About Us
Our mission is "Serving the community of Duston". The electorate (the number of registered voters) of Duston is 12,619 (as of 1st May 2022).
A parish council is a local authority that makes decisions on behalf of the people in the parish. It is the level of local government closest to the community. They have few duties but a number of powers. A Parish council, for instance, can directly run local facilities such as leisure centres, theatres, manage parks and establish bylaws. An outline guide to powers of a Parish Council can be found here:

Our History
Duston Parish Council came into existence on 1st April 1991 - Statutory Instrument Northampton (Parishes) Order 1991.
From April 1991 to March 2021 Duston was served by three tiers of Local Government - the Parish Council, Northampton Borough Council & Northamptonshire County Council. Since April 2021 Duston has been served by the Parish Council & West Northamptonshire Council.
From 1965 to 2021 the Mayor of Northampton & it's civic coat of arms covered Duston. This all now belongs exclusively to our neighbour, Northampton Town Council. Bants Lane is the boundary between Northampton Town and Duston Civil Parish.
